About
Cinematic Auteur. Horror Aficionado. Cosplayer. Videojockey.
Joshan.
Joshan was born on the south side of Chicago and spent his formative years in Atlanta, Georgia. Good ol’ southern charm was one of the many cultural values that helped to shape Joshan’s moral compass. He values justice and logic. Early in life, Joshan learned the importance of goal-setting and hard work through his single mother, a consultant, author, and adjunct-professor.
After working with a video production company in 2010, Joshan decided to minor in film in college. In 2011, he attended the summer program at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University where he earned six college credits and wrote, directed, and produced his first short film, “Adonis.” Through that experience, Joshan decided to major in Film and Television Production at the top-rated University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.
Joshan believes opinions and ideas are best conveyed through the visual medium. His areas of interest are the horror genre and the subgenres of zombie films, found-footage films, and films of the occult for their relevance to cultural shifts, the psychological aspects of survival, and their interpretations of western mythology. He is also a fan of the Japanese filmmaking style of tokusatsu and hopes to introduce it to American audiences.
Because of his interest in social justice issues and their effects on our world, Joshan is committed to improving the plight of marginalized people through the artistic medium of cinema.
